On 19 August 2020, Phoenix shared their new track “Identical.” The song appears on the soundtrack to Sofia Coppola’s latest film “On the Rocks”). This film— set to be released on Apple TV+ in October —stars Bill Murray, Rashida Jones, and Marlon Wayans. Phoenix scored the film, marking their fifth film collaboration with Sofia Coppola (who is married to Phoenix lead singer Thomas Mars).
“Identical” arrives with a video directed by Sofia’s brother Roman Coppola. The song and video are dedicated to the late Philippe Zdar, whom the band frequently collaborated with.
