“Butterfly” is the last track off Grimes’ fourth album, Art Angels.

She explained to Consequence of Sound :

There’s a song that’s from the perspective of a butterfly in the Amazon as people are cutting down trees

The Japanese sentence at the bottom of the artwork litteraly reads “fairy type”, and can also be seen on the Pin’s artwork. Grimes often identifies as a fairy (or as she writes it, faery).

Grimes said in her 2015 interview with Rolling Stone that her computer continuously crashed while making this song because she kept layering on “so much Enya synth shit.”
