Ellie has claimed that she has a huge fascination with classical music and opera singers and wanted to try it out on the track.

She spoke about the song with Michael Parkinson on Parkinson Masterclass in 2013; about how the song is about somebody who pushes people away their whole life without realising it, and as the world is coming to an end, all these explosions and they’ve got no one with them as the world ends – though she went on to say it could be interpreted in different ways.
