“fiction” is the lead promotional single and second track off of Black Birdie’s sophomore studio album, Happily, which seems to follow a theme of storytelling hence the title of this song. They teased some of this song in an IGTV video and was officially released to all streaming platforms on February 14th, 2022. The song itself is about falling in love with the idea of true love and slowly realizing that it’s not real and – in fact – ‘fiction’. They attempt to break down the facade around true love while also trying not to fall in love themselves.
